The Experienced Technician, Supervisor or Manager card is available to technicians, supervisors and managers with significant on the job experience, normally at least one year within the last three.
This card suits those who have missed the industry accreditation opportunity and do not hold a relevant NVQ or SVQ level 3, 4 or 5 qualification. It also applies to those who are members of an approved Professional Body without holding relevant qualifications.
Examples of these professional bodies are -
To qualify for one of these cards you need to first of all check to see if your job role is covered by the CSCS scheme. You must also pass the health and safety test and register for an NVQ or SVQ qualification. Complete an NVQ or SVQ profiling session with an onsite assessor (similar to the profiling route for managers).
All of these cards are valid for three years and are non-renewable. Issuing of the cards is meant to be on a temporary basis, while a relevant NVQ or SVQ is being acquired.
The expectation is that it would be replaced by a skilled five year card upon successful achievement of an NVQ or SVQ Level 3 or higher.
